About Janu
Originally from Cambridge, MA, I've spent most of my life running up and down the East Coast eating bagels and drinking coffee. I studied at Wesleyan University leaving with a Bachelors in Arts & Sciences in Biological Sciences. Afterwards I received a Certificate of Design in Architectural Design from the University of Washington. After that I worked in the Cannabis sector for 5 years helping build community and elevating industry standards. For the past year I've been studying software engineering/web design, and finished a Full-Stack program in October 2020 with the Flatiron School.
Since arriving to Seattle, WA I've explored the natural splendor of the region and fell in with a really beautiful community of dancers and artists around the city.
How I got into coding
Time after time, I saw the need for solutions that didn't exist, to problems that impacted many. It didn't make sense to me that these solutions weren't being made or implemented. Especially with all the global issues that we encounter in our shared experience. Without realizing it, I reflexively sought ought ways to change that.
It drove me to learn about code, and after a few months of self-study I decided to enroll in a course. Now I find myself doing things I never thought I'd think to do. The process of bringing an idea to life has become rewarding in a way that is almost intoxicating - it's progress. The journey is challenging, but the excitement is always there.
Why I Code
I've learned that my love for design and creating, as well as my passion for helping those around me can be found within building applications. That and the fact that the field is constantly evolving, pushing boundaries and innately innovative. This appeals to me, because I love learning new things, collaborating with bright minds, and delivering a piece of work to be proud of. With tech theres so much to learn - and so much to make. It's an ideal place to be.
Code Interests
My future goals include learning more about IoT, sustainability, smart-buildings, vertical farming, smart-health, tele-health, cloud-computing, AI, cyber-security and digital entertainment/media.
